Hoshiarpur: The Model Town police have arrested a person and recovered 56 ATM cards of various banks from him. The accused has been identified as Somdutt, a resident of Lamma Pind in Jalandhar. Investigating officer ASI Jasveer Singh said the accused used to mislead people and withdraw money from their account by changing their cards at a bank ATM near the bus stand. The police party arrested the accused standing near a bank. He said during the search of the accused, 56 ATM cards belonging to various banks were recovered from him. He told that the accused used to change the bank customers’ ATM cards by offering them help in using the cards and then used to withdraw money from their account as soon as he got a chance. Apart from this, the accused used to fraudulently withdraw money from customers’ accounts in case of incomplete transactions. OC

Two booked for dowry harassment

Hoshiarpur: The Tanda police have booked two persons, including the husband, for harassing a woman for dowry. Harpreet Kaur, a resident of village Talwandi Jattan, told the police that she was married to Maninder Kumar, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar. She said her husband, along with his aunt Manjeet Kaur, allegedly started harassing for dowry. The husband threw her out of the matrimonial house after the demand for dowry was not met. The police have registered a case against both the accused. OC

Woman held with intoxicating pills

Hoshiarpur: The Garhshankar police have arrested a woman smuggler and seized a large quantity of banned pills. The accused has been identified as Mandeep Kaur, a resident of Denowal Khurd village. A case has been registered against her under various sections of the NDPS Act. OC
