IPL 2022 Mega-Auction Key Auctions Answered, check out
- Salary Cap – 90 Crores
- Old Franchises: Will Name Retained Players by 30th November 2021, maximum of 4 players can be retained. 3 Indians & maximum two foreigners
- New Franchises: 2 New teams to finalized their 3 players outside of auction between 1st December 2021 to 30th December 2021. Not more than 2 Indians & 1 foreigner
- RTM Cards: There will also be no Right to Match (RTM) cards this time around.
The BCCI has also outlined how much funds will be deducted from the salary cap as per their choices of retentions.
- TOTAL Players Purse – 90 Crore
- 4 Players retained, Rs 42 crore will cut from the player purse.
- 3 retentions will lead to a reduction of Rs 33 crores
- 2 retentions will result in deduction of 24 crore from the player purse.
- 1 Retained Player: 14 crore will be deducted from the purse.
As per the new proposal, BCCI is mulling over allowing the two new franchises — Ahmedabad and Lucknow — to pick three players each from the auction pool.
- It means the two new teams will be able to pick three unretained players from the auction pool first.
- Franchises are concerned that if the new teams are allowed to pick any three players from the auction pool, they will not be able to use RTMs for them.
- The BCCI and IPL governing council are yet to convey their decision on RTMs to the franchises.
- As per the last discussion, each franchise will be able to retain four players.
- Amongst the four, one player must be uncapped.
- A maximum of three Indian players could be retained.
- For foreigners, a maximum of two foreign players can be retained but that will reduce the number of retainers to three including an uncapped player.
- In previous auctions, franchises were allowed to use a maximum of four RTMs. But it is likely to be reduced to two.
