NOIDA: The
Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will be cleared of all hurdles by November 25 midnight for the launch ceremony of Noida International
Airport in
Jewar.
Authority officials on Tuesday said that construction work on both the carriageways of the high-speed corridor will be briefly halted and all equipment kept on the highway will be removed to ensure seamless traffic movement towards
Greater Noida.
In fact, from late Wednesday evening, the officials will start getting all the hurdles cleared in order to ensure smooth connectivity towards Greater Noida. The police department and the district administration has already asked the Authority to take immediate steps in order to clear all the construction materials and equipment kept on the expressway.
General manager of the authority, PK Kaushik said that instructions have been passed on to all the senior engineers and contractors to remove drums, barricades, earth movers, heavy machines and road work tools from the stretch by the midnight of November 25. “Till then, we will carry out repair works. Work on the underpasses will be put on hold for a day for the launch ceremony.”
While reaching Greater Noida from Mahamaya flyover via the expressway is easy, heading back to the city requires a lot of manoeuvring as the road surface is yet not even.
Meanwhile, sharing more details about the Noida theatre festival that is scheduled from November 26, the Authority officials said that people interested in watching plays will be offered seats at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra on a first-come-first-serve basis.
