South African govt mulls plan for universal home connectivity by 2024

Minister of Communications Khumbudzo Ntshavheni said the government is reviewing its plans to ensure that all South Africans have access to connectivity at their home by 2024. She told the annual Southern Africa Telecommunication Networks and Applications Conference (SATNAC) that the European Union had made home broadband commitments and challenged the ICT sector to set similar targets for the country. She said the challenge would be what South Africa should commit to, given the development disparities that result from class differences and geolocation
