KALYAN: The police investigating the murder of a 52-year-old auto-rickshaw driver Abhiman Bhandari arrested his neighbour on Monday in Thane district's
Kalyan.
The deceased was a resident of
Umbarde village in
Kalyan East. On Saturday early morning, while on his way to a public toilet near his house, he was brutally stabbed to death.
Following the incident, local
Khadakpada police had registered a murder case against unidentified persons and during the probe, they arrested neighbour
Sopan Panje (25) in the case.
The police found that deceased Bhandari was married and had three children. He would pee near the accused's house at night when Panje's elder brother and his brother's wife used to spend some time together in the house.
Police said that Panje had spotted Bhandari several times and they had a dispute over it, and the former had even warned the latter against repeating his act.
Ashok Pawar, senior police inspector of Khadakpada police station said, "The primary probe has revealed that the deceased would pee near the accused's house due to which on Saturday morning, the accused killed him by stabbing him multiple times."
