3,698 test Covid positive from 45,000 samples in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state witnessed 3,698 positive cases of the 45,190 samples tested in the last 24 hours. Among the new cases detected, 3,171 have taken the vaccination, 1,500 are fully vaccinated and 1,251 have not taken even a single dose.
The total active cases at present are 54,091, of which 7.2% of the people are admitted either in hospitals or other treatment centres.
Meanwhile, 75 deaths were confirmed due to Covid, taking the related death toll in the state to 37,675. At the same time, 7,515 patients have recovered from the disease.
Among the new cases, 3,432 cases have been infected through local spread. The contact source of infection was not traceable for 238. There are 13 healthcare professionals among those infected and 15 people have arrived from outside the state.
Kozhikode reported the highest number of cases with 724, followed by Ernakulam (622), Thiruvananthapuram (465), Kollam (346), Thrissur (247), Kottayam (228), Kannur (200), Malappuram (179), Idukki (162), Alappuzha (151), Wayanad (119), Palakkad (115), Pathanamthitta (110), and Kasaragod (28).
There are a total of 1,88,979 persons presently under observation in various districts of the state, of which 1,83,929 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres, and 5,050 are in isolation at hospitals.
As per the weekly infection population ratio, 46 wards in 39 local bodies are having a WIPR of more than 10%. In these wards, strict lockdown restrictions have been implemented.
