Jitendar Singh: JK is getting priority in development under leadership of Modi, CAT inaugurated in Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 23 (UNI) Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said Jammu and Kashmir is getting priority in developmental activities under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which never happened in the past.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) at Suthrashahi in Srinagar, Singh said, the kind of priority Jammu and Kashmir is getting, especially the Kashmir valley, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi never happened before.
He recalled when Kashmir valley was submerged in flood water in 2014 and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had took over the seat of government, he choose to spend the first Diwali of his government with the flood victims of Kashmir. He said the Prime Minister was here more than once to assess the situation himself and provided relief among the sufferers.
“That is the kind of commitment and dedication a comprehensive sensitivity with which government headed by Prime Minister Modi treats the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said.
The Union Minister said as many as fifty central ministers are visiting Kashmir valley periodically to assess the developmental work which could never happen during the past decades.
He said, the event that is taking place today is the extension of the approach with which the government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi wishes to bring back Jammu and Kashmir especially Kashmir valley back on track after the long nightmare of three decades. “Once I said the other day “Na Maloom Kis Ki Nazar Lag Gaye Mere Wadi-e-Kashmir Ko”, the Union Minister recalled.
He said, “the commitment this government has taken upto, not only to restore the lapses that have happen otherwise, but also any erosion of the cultural identity that might have taken place during these turbulent times to restore”.
“I think the regular visit by the central ministers to Jammu and Kashmir is a part of the exercise and an endeavour to focus on different areas which need attention and development”, the Union Minister said.
He said, the level of aspiration among the people of Kashmir valley is quite very high, particularly among the youth who are very forward looking and also diligent. “I have an opportunity to meet these youth during the interaction with a group called “super 35”.
Singh said Jammu and Kashmir is the only UT in the country to have two CAT Benches and this is because Prime Minister Narendra Modi accords special priority to Jammu and Kashmir and he takes a keen interest in the matters and issues related to the new Union Territory.
He said, two Benches for J&K will go a long way in not only reducing the burden of various Courts, but would also provide to the persons covered by the Administrative Tribunals speedy relief in respect of their grievances and service matters.
Singh informed that the Jurisdiction of Jammu Bench of CAT extends up to 10 districts of UT of J&K and one district (Leh) from UT of Ladakh, while the jurisdiction of Srinagar Bench extends up to 10 districts of UT of J&K and one district (Kargil) from UT of Ladakh.
He concluded that Modi Government is committed to Transparency and “Justice for All” and the people friendly reforms taken in the last seven years have benefitted the entire country including people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
He said that more than 800 Central laws, which were not applicable to J&K have been made applicable since the abolition of Article 370 and 35A on 5th August 2019 for the benefit of people of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and now they enjoy same rights as people from the rest of India.
It may be recalled that after the abrogation of the Article 370, the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh became two separate Union Territories and according employees of erstwhile State became the employees of the Union Territories.
As such the disputes pertaining to their service matters are now being adjudicated by CAT.
