Three individual players carried their NFL teams to victory on Sunday.
For the first time this season, three different players scored three or more touchdowns in the same week.
The most notable was Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor, who totaled five touchdowns — the most by any player this season — in the Colts’ 41-15 win over Buffalo. Taylor ran for 185 yards and four touchdowns on 32 carries and added 19 yards and a score through the air.
On Sunday night, Los Angeles running back Austin Ekeler propelled the Chargers to victory with four touchdowns of his own. Ekeler totaled 115 yards with two rushing touchdowns and two receiving scores in the Chargers’ 41-37 win over Pittsburgh. The only other player in the NFL this season to score four touchdowns in one game was Packers running back Aaron Jones in Week 2.
It wasn’t Ekeler’s first big game of the season. The running back totaled three touchdowns in the Chargers’ Week 5 win over Cleveland.
Lastly, Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts also had a big day, but not with his arm. The Eagles signal caller ran for 69 yards and three touchdowns to lead Philadelphia to a 40-29 over New Orleans.
Eight other players have scored three times in a game this season: Titans running back Derrick Henry (Weeks 2, 5 and 6), Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill (Week 4), Falcons wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson (Week 4), Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans (Week 7) and Cardinals running back James Conner (Week 9).
