Imphal, November 21 2021: Chief minister N Biren said that the people of the state used to suffer a lot as they were unaware of choosing the right candidates but peace has prevailed in the state as voters exercise their right exemplarily in the 2017 assembly election.
Attending a one-day political conference organised by BJP Kshetrigao Mandal at KYO ground, Kongba Nongthombam Leikai on Sunday, Biren said that for long, people did not pay serious attention on the importance of election.
Most of the electors construed elections as an opportunity to enjoy free meals and get free money.
They were not aware which party they should choose to bring peace and development.
As a result, they suffered a lot.
However, this time the situation is critical as there is a volatile situation among the different communities of the state.
Naga peace talk is going on and Kuki UG groups are under Suspension of Operation.
In the meantime, people of the valley area are directionless and these issues need a concrete solution.
Only then, the state will experience true peace, he said.
People of Manipur are also citizens of India and the country will not be complete without them.
The BJP government has brought ILP System for protection of the indigenous people and the public should choose such party which could protect them but not the ones that will disintegrate the state.
BJP is the only party that will stand for a united Manipur, he said.
Taking a jibe at the NPP, the CM urged the public not to get swept away by the money power of political party that originated from Shillong.
The public must teach such political parties and politicians the right lesson in the forthcoming election.
On the other hand, BJP is not a party that will sell the state for constructing a community hall.
He further said that unity has once again returned among the different communities.
Except for a few politicians, who doubt their victory in the election and are instigating some section of the public, people as well as leaders in hill areas are all in the same page for protecting the unity and integrity of the state.
It is time for the hill people to identify those who are misappropriating their shares and Ghoose the right representative.
The government is taking up measures to ensure that all the benefits reach the rightful beneficiaries, he said.
It has been 20 years since he joined politics driven by the desire of doing something for the state and its people.
He joined politics for the first time after pledging by holding an axe.
At that time, he could not do much as he had to gain support from other parties.
However, he has done many things in the last four and half years.
The government will not spare anybody who threatens the lives and prestige of the people of the state, he asserted.
Regarding the appointment of advisor to CM, Biren said that the advisors are political advisors and urged the public not to take it in the wrong sense as they are not academic advisors.
In the field of politics, everybody has their own skills and he would need them for better governance, the CM explained.
He also assured of developing a tourist spot, community playgrounds and a police outpost in Kshetrigao assembly constituency after consulting with MLA N Indrajit.
In his address, MLA Indrajit said that the state is seeing peace and development under the leadership of chief minister N Biren.
Under the campaign of War against Drugs, over 80 per cent of the issue of drug menace in the constituency have been resolved.
With election approaching, some so-called social workers are trying to draw public attention by sharing photos of helping some individuals.
Such people are trading the lives of the poor people for their personal gain and he would never indulge in such petty politics, the MLA maintained.
Indrajit also affirmed that he would never advertise his social works on social media to gain popularity.
