Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Monday at 10:58AM

Orient Green Power Company(up 5.00%), Energy Development Company(up 4.79%), Indowind Energy(up 4.76%), NTL(up 4.55%), Karma Energy(up 3.88%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.22%) and ABBPP&SLTD(up 1.08%) were among the top gainers.

Jyoti Structures(down 5.00%), Reliance Power(down 4.07%), GE Power India Limited(down 3.43%), Alstom T&D India(down 3.43%), Tata Power Company(down 2.97%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 2.55%), JSW Energy(down 2.47%), NHPC(down 2.45%), DPSC(down 2.30%) and Adani Transmissions(down 2.26%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 178.5 points down at 17586.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 613.78 points at 59022.23 at around 10:58AM.

Bharti Airtel(up 4.06%), Asian Paints(up 2.04%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.3%), Hindalco Industries(up 1.07%), Britannia Industries(up 0.96%), Tata Consultancy(up 0.9%), Cipla(up 0.67%), JSW Steel(up 0.43%) and Wipro(up 0.35%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Bajaj Finance(down 4.24%), Reliance Industries(down 3.37%), Tata Motors(down 3.21%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 2.72%), Titan Company Ltd(down 2.69%), Bajaj Finserv(down 2.19%), Indian Oil Corporation(down 2.13%), State Bank of India(down 2.1%), NTPC(down 2.03%) and Maruti Suzuki(down 2.02%) were trading in the red.
