FULL TIME! Mumbai City FC get their title defence off a winning start as they beat FC Goa 3-0. Ex-FC Goa striker Igor Angulo scored a brace against his former side while Ygor Catatau scored the team’s third as the Islanders cruised to the victory.

68′ – Nongdamba shows excellent skill to move the ball ahead, gets the ball back from Devendra but hit shot is blocked. The ball falls for an unchallenged Ortiz but his shot is wide. That was a good, good chance for Goa to get one back.

66′ – Lovely switch from Glan towards Leander on the right and Rakip was caught sleeping a bit there. The ball takes his chest but Nawaz is alert enough to come ahead and collect the ball before Leander could take his shot.

64′ – Sloppy from Leander on the right once again and Ivan Gonzalez had to make a brilliant sliding tackle to put the ball out for a corner. The ball drops for Dheeraj, who collects it comfortably.

60′ – Cabrera is replaced by Jorge Ortiz. Ortiz was one of FC Goa’s best players last season but had an injury in the Durand Cup. Now, he is on the pitch and Juan wants him to change the game.

56′ – Another excellent and quick move from Mumbai City FC. A long ball from Nawaz towards Bipin, who passes to Cassio. Cassio shows great skill to find Angulo, who backheels to Bipin but the Indian can’t find the target with his curving strike.

HALF TIME! What a brilliant first half for Mumbai City FC where they saw their main man, ex-FC Goa striker, Igor Angulo find the back of the net twice to put Mumbai City FC 2-0 up. For the first 20 minutes, both teams were cagey and the pace of the game was low but once Mumbai got going, FC Goa were left all hassled.

Mumbai City FC were denied a penalty early on when Leander D’Cunha brought down Vignesh Dakshinamurthy in the box but they weren’t denied a second time when Ivan Gonzalez fouled Cassio. Angulo stepped up from the spot and gave Mumbai the lead.

Three minutes later, Jahouh did extremely well to pass to Raynier who made an inch-perfect pass to Angulo. The striker took one quick touch and slotted the ball home.

Mumbai had a golden chance to go 3-0 up when Raynier had the ball completely unmarked but his shot hit the post.

FC Goa will need serious thinking in the dressing room in the next few minutes to turn this one around.

45′ – Horrendous error from Papuia at the back and FC Goa are almost punished. Raynier is completely unmarked with the ball, runs up the pitch but his shot hits the post. That should have been Mumbai’s third!

43′ – Free kick for FC Goa and Edu Bedia puts in a good ball in the box. Ivan Gonzalez stretches and reaches for it but the touch is too weak and it’s an easy collect for Nawaz.
