Qatar Chamber and the UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) held a meeting yesterday in Doha to discuss the staging of a forum slated in 2022.
Qatar Chamber first vice chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari received UN-OHRLLS under-secretary-general Earle Courtenay Rattray during the meeting, which discussed ways to organise a forum for the private sector on the sidelines of the ‘5th UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5)’, which will take place in Qatar on January 23-27, 2022.
Rattray lauded the partnership with Qatar Chamber in organising the forum, and hoped that the various Qatari economic sectors would participate, which, he said, “is an important tool for strengthening co-operation relations between the countries participating in the UN Conference.”
Al-Kuwari underscored Qatar’s “vast experience” in organising international conferences and forums and expressed the chamber’s keenness to support the forum, which will provide a great opportunity to strengthen trade partnerships with least developed countries and help boost their development.
