Hyderabad: The Director-General, Forest Survey of India (FSI), Dehradun, Anoop Singh, on Saturday proposed that a dedicated cell of FSI be established within the premises of Aranya Bhawan. He was impressed by the work of the Telangana State Forest Department.
Singh appreciated the work of the State Forest Department on several aspects, including the development of a protocol for digitizing forest blocks, improvements required in e-GreenWatch, forest fire risk zoning, plantations and the commencement of other activities, etc., in a review meeting at the Aranya Bhavan.
The DG requested that the eGreenWatch portal, which captures the information on the works recorded against the projects, be restored and refurbished with the latest technologies, based on the proposal of the State Forest Department, reads a press release.
He also requested that data be transferred from the Parivesh portal, where the life cycle of a forest and wildlife clearance is captured, to the eGreenWatch portal to avoid redundancy.
Forest officials prepared a detailed submission on the standard operating procedure for surveying and demarcating forest areas and submitted the same proposal to the government for approval.
The process involves two major activities viz; extraction of assumed boundaries and identification determination of the boundaries in the field added the exemption.
Singh said no other state in the country has done much work using advanced technologies, appreciating the forest officials for their efforts.
