A number of beguiled youth want to leave 'gun culture', says Arunachal Governor

Itanagar, Nov 21 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra, who has recently been to the eastern Arunachal district of Changlang, on Sunday said that a number of "beguiled" youth (in the region) want to leave the "gun culture" and join the mainstream.
"We must give them an opportunity under the ‘Surrender Policy’ of the State Government and motivate the misguided youths to join the mainstream," said the Governor while discussing the law and order issues in the insurgency-infested Tirap, Changlang, and Longding districts with Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who called on him at the Raj Bhavan here today, official sources said.
The Governor and the Chief Minister also discussed about the various ongoing developmental projects and programmes in the state.
While sharing his observations about the Miao-Vijoynagar road on which he drove on Saturday
to get first-hand information, the Governor emphasised that the project has to be expedited, while maintaining the quality of work as per specifications and guidelines.
The Governor reiterated that this 'lifeline' of the people of the easternmost tip of the state will be
a boon for the youths, entrepreneurs and tourists.
"Most importantly, it will strengthen the territorial security of the Nation and reinforce the
conservation and protection of the treasured flora and fauna of Namdapha Tiger Reserve," he said.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister briefed the Governor about his recent tour to Upper
Subansiri and West Kameng districts, the sources added.
