Agartala, Nov 21 (UNI) East Agartala Women police station on Sunday afternoon arrested TMC
youth wing Chief Saayoni Ghosh after her three hours long interrogation under section 307 of IPC,
a day before the road show of TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee.
Police said a video ran viral in social media where Saayoni was seen saying ‘Khela hobe Biplab babu’ from a vehicle near an election rally of Chief Minister on Saturday evening in Ashram Chowmuhani area of the city.
“We have considered the FIR as an attempt to murder of CM and as per law she has been
arrested. In due course she will be produced before the court seeking her police custody to
investigate the matter,” said an on-duty police officer.
TMC state convener Subal Bhowmik alleged when police brought her for interrogation without any notice from the hotel in the morning immediately BJP goons attacked her and other TMC workers present inside the police station leaving at least seven persons injured and several vehicles destroyed \\n presence of police.
“Surprisingly, police didn’t detain any of the attackers; rather they helped them to run away from the spot after almost half an hour of vandalism. Last evening, senior TMC leaders Babul Supriyo and
West Bengal minister Firhad Hakim were attacked by BJP goons in two places. A TMC candidate
and several others have been shifted to hospital with critical injuries following the attack but police did nothing,” Bhowmik alleged.
He stated at least 11 FIRs were lodged against BJP cadres for attacking and assaulting TMC candidates and their family members after the Supreme Court directed the state to provide security
to TMC leaders and candidates. None of the accused is arrested so far, but Saayoni Ghosh was arrested in a false case of wild allegations, which showed police is hands in glove with BJP cadres.
“Police hatched conspiracy with BJP cadres today and planned to kill us in the police station. God saved us somehow. If political leaders are not safe from BJP goons even in the police station how
can people live in the state? Biplab Deb apprehending did it to disturb the road show of Abhishek Banerjee on Monday,” Bhowmik added.
