Kolkata, Nov 21 (UNI) India won the toss and opted to bat in the third and final T20I match against New Zealand at Eden Gardens here on Sunday.
Rohit Sharma will be aiming for a clean sweep in his first T20I series as the full-time captain in the shortest format.
After sealing the three-match series, Rohit had the liberty to make changes to the side. He rested opener KL Rahul and finger spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and brought in opener Ishan Kishan and right-arm leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.
New Zealand is being led by new makeshift captain Mitchell Santner, who replaced Tim Southee who led the team in the first two T20Is. Lockie Ferguson comes in as replacement to Southee.
Speaking after winning the toss for three consecutive time, Rohit said the team want to try various things and therefore opted to bat first just to see how the team fares as a batting unit.
The team want to put runs on the board and give the new set of bowlers a target to defend, he added.
Santner said he, any how, would have bowled first as dew had played a major role in last few games and hoped the team put up a complete game today.
"We have been close, lost a couple of phases especially in the last game during the middle with the bat, we got off to a great start.. But that's just the way. The Indian openers have come out and build partnerships. We are not far away and hopefully we can put up a complete game today," he said.
