Farm laws repeal: 'No change in scheduled programmes,' say farm unions

NEW DELHI: Farmers are sticking to their position on ending the sit-in protests at Delhi borders, linking it to fulfillment of their pending demands. They have also not relented on holding their programs scheduled over the next few days.
Meanwhile ANI quoting government sources said the Union Cabinet is likely to take up the withdrawal of the three farm laws on Wednesday for approval. The relevant Bills will then be introduced in Parliament during the forthcoming winter session.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of farmer unions met near the Singhu border in Delhi on Sunday. At the conclusion of the meeting, farmer leaders said they will go ahead with the 'mahapanchayat' at Lucknow's Eco Garden on Monday. Farmers are to gather at their protest sites at Delhi borders on November 26, and hold a tractor rally to Parliament on November 29.
Farmer leader Balbit Singh Rajewal said they will write an open letter to the Prime Minister over their pending demands, like mandate and composition of the MSP committee announced by PM Modi, withdrawal of cases against protesting farmers and the Electricity Bill 2020. Farmers are also demanding compensation for those who died during the protests.
Another meeting of SKM will be held on Nov 27th November, and some decisions might be taken on the basis of how the situation unfolds from now, Rajewal said.
