A few minutes later, Arrows attacked through Nduduzo Sibiya, who flashes a shot just wide.
In the ninth minute, Pirates came close to scoring when Fortune Makaringe combined well with Collins Makgaka before releasing a shot, which crashed into the upright.
Minutes later, it was Makgaka’s turn to go for goal, as he cut inside before shooting just wide of the target. Then a bit later Deon Hotto forced a save from Gumede.
In the early stages of the first-half it was all Pirates in attack.
On 42 minutes, Bucs nearly grabbed the lead when a free-kick by Hotto hit the crossbar with Gumede rooted to the spot.
The sides headed into the break with the scores tied 0-0. Pirates had more possession and looking the more likely to score.
Arrows made a double substitution as Dube and Sibiya went off and were replaced by Ndwandwe and Mtshali.
