Defending Champion Tamil Nadu will take on Hyderabad in the National Capital in the 1st semi-final match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021. Tamil Nadu have been in great form right from the start winning 4 out of 5 matches to top Group A in Elite stage to enter the quarter-final and they are eyeing their 3rd Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. They will now face Hyderabad who have been unbeaten with 5 out of 5 wins in Group E of Elite stage. Tanmay Agarwal of Hyderabad has been the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 333 runs in 6 innings with an average of 66.60 and a strike rate of 150.67. CV Milind leads the pack with the ball taking 18 wickets in 6 matches with a staggering average of 11 and an economy rate of 8.67.
Vidarbha will lock horns against Karnataka in New Delhi in the 2nd semi-final match. Vidarbha topped the Plate group remaining unbeaten in all 5 matches and in the semi-final they restricted Rajasthan to 84/8 in 20 overs to win the match by 9 wickets. Karnataka on the other hand beat Bengal in a thrilling super-over. Before this Karnataka won 4 out of 5 matches in Group B of Elite Stage.

Despite the toxic air, the pre-quarter finals of the coveted domestic T20 championship were held at the Arun Jaitley stadium and the Airforce ground in Palam without any spectators and journalists.
