PETERSBURG — A man found dead on a west end street Friday night is Petersburg's 16th homicide victim of the year.
Police said the man was found around 8:15 p.m. in the 300 block of Poplar Street. He had been shot in the head.
Few other details have been released, including the victim's identity. An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
The death comes five days after another man was found shot to death in the 200 block of S. South Street, less than a mile and a half from where Friday night's shooting took place. Police are looking for a suspect in that case, also.
