Giants S Logan Ryan moved to reserve/COVID-19 list

The New York Giants placed starting safety Logan Ryan on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday, meaning he is almost certain to be unavailable when the team meets the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.

Head coach Joe Judge said Friday that Ryan, who is vaccinated, tested positive Thursday. His placement on the list means it was not a false positive result.

To be eligible to play in Tampa, he would need two negative tests within 24 hours before the game.

Ryan, 30, is the Giants' leading tackler with 72 stops in nine starts this season.

Julian Love likely will take Ryan's place opposite safety Xavier McKinney.

The Giants (3-6) have won two of their past three games entering the game with the Buccaneers (6-3).
