COIMBATORE: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pradip Kumar took charge as Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore city, on Saturday evening. He accepted a guard of honour at the city police commissionerate. Later, addressing the media, Pradip Kumar said the city police would give priority to the safety of women and children. Crime against women, children and senior citizens would be given priority. Action would be taken to reduce the road accidents. “We will take necessary steps to maintain the law and order situation in the city. We have good police teams in the city,” said Pradip Kumar. He said he would focus on organised crimes including job rackets, money cheating and property crimes. “Stringent action will be taken against the anti-social elements in the city. I hope that we are able to bring some positive changes in the city with the cooperation of Coimbatore people,” said Pradip Kumar.
