Punjab: Three students held for murder bid on their friend

LUDHIANA: The Jodhewal police arrested three school students, including a minor, for murder bid on their friend who also is a school student. All the youngsters are friends however two of them had a spat on November 17.
The victim has been identified as Rajveer Chahal, 18, a class 12 student from New Shastri Nagar of Tibba area. In this matter the police arrested Gurashish of New Suhash Nagar, Hritik Khatri of Swaran Park and their minor friend on Thursday.
In his complaint to police Rajveer Chahal stated that in the evening of November 17 his friend Vansh called him. He said that he had a spat with Gurashish over some issue. Because Rajveer is also a good friend of Gurashish, Vansh asked him to get the issue resolved between them. Vansh also said that Gurashish has called him near Guru Vihar hosiery complex to talk about it.
Therefore Rajveer accompanied Vansh to Guru Vihar hosiery complex to get the issue resolved. However, Gurashish was already present with at least 15 accomplices who attacked them. The accused thrashed Vansh and Rajveer during which Rajveer suffered head injury. The accused then escaped from the spot and Vansh rushed injured Rajveer to hospital.
Investigating officer from Jodhewal police station ASI Gurjeet Singh said, “All youngsters are school students and study in classes 10 to 12. Though they study in different schools, they are all friends. Gurashish and Vansh had an issue between them due to some girl. Gurashish called Vansh near a hosiery complex on the pretext of resolving the issue, however his actual plan was to injure Vansh. Vansh had taken Rajveer along with him. The accused were laced with sharp edged and blunt weapons. The accused youngsters attacked both Vansh and Rajveer.”
“Rajever got a severe head injury whereas Vansh got minor injuries. The police have arrested Gurashish, Hritik and a minor boy in this and search is on for the arrest of the rest of the accused” added ASI.
A case under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of IPC by Jodhewal police.
