Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) organized the celebration of Legal Services Day cum Commendation Ceremony for the year, 2021 on 9th November, 2021 at 2.00 PM at the Auditorium, High Court of Manipur.
The programme was held in the august presence of Hon’ble Mr. Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar, Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur & Patron-in-Chief, MASLSA; Hon’ble Mr. Justice Kh. Nobin Singh, Executive Chairman, MASLSA & Hon’ble Judges of the High Court of Manipur.
Legal Services Day / Commendation Ceremony
Legal Services Day is observed to commemorate the enactment of the Legal Services Authorities Act and to create awareness about the various provisions related to the act. Along with the celebration of Legal Services Day, Commendation Ceremony was organized to felicitate the various Departments, Offices, NGOs which are closely working with Manipur State Legal Services Authority, Legal Services Institutions & Legal Services Functionaries in the state for their services and contribution to the cause of 'Access to Justice'.

The programme was attended by Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Manipur; Advocate General, Manipur; Registrar General, High Court of Manipur; Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women; Chairperson, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights; Director (Social Welfare) Govt. of Manipur; Chairperson and Secretaries of District Legal Services Authorities; Judicial Officers, Sr. Advocates, Panel Advocates; Para Legal Volunteers; representatives of various Government departments; Artists of Nokphade Cultural Foundation; members of Tour de Manipur Riders, media persons; officers & staff of Legal Services Authorities and High Court of Manipur.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar, Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur & Patron-in-Chief, MASLSA handed over the award for best District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) for the year, 2021 to Churachandpur District Legal Services Authority with certificate and memento for the commendable legal services activities undertaken during the year, 2021.

The award for best Para Legal Volunteer of the state was given to Smt. Thokchom Kalapati Devi, PLV of Thongju Legal Aid Clinic under Imphal East DLSA. The award for best Panel Lawyer was given to Khoisanam Lembisana Meidingu, Panel Lawyer of Thoubal DLSA.
The event also felicitated all the District Legal Services Authorities in the state, nominees/ district level best Para Legal Volunteers and Panel Lawyers in recognition of the activities & dedicated services rendered by them.
During the technical session of the programme, Shri S. Imocha Singh, Judge, Fast Track Special Court No. 1, Manipur gave presentations on the topic “Encouraging Mediation and other ADR mechanisms; the past, present and the future” and “Services of Pro Bono Lawyers in Manipur: Way forward”.
To conclude the programme, a short film “Khangminashi Eikhoi”, a comical film based on legal awareness performed by Nokphade Cultural Foundation was also screened.
