The Minister for the Presidency Milly Babalanda has ordered an investigation into the conduct of the Arua Deputy Resident City Commissioner (D/RCC) Jackson Adomati in relation to allegations of leaking security information.

A letter said to have been written and signed by his boss Mrs Opio Alice Akello, the RCC made into a wide circulation online, appealing to members of the Indian community in Arua to advance her office some financial help to boost the anti-terrorism campaign in the border district.

Our investigations have established that a District Security Committe meeting that sat on the 9th of this month resolved to seek interventions from well wishers to step up security in the wake of the recent terror threats in the country.

Being a border district with crisis infested Democratic Republic of Congo, which is also home to terror group- ADF, Arua remains one of the most delicate districts, more so due to the high influx of refugees fleeing the crisis back home.

It was against this background that the RCC- Alice Akello Opio, along with the entire committee of which Adomati is a member made a resolution to solicit some assistance from well wishers so as to boost surveillance.

Its however alleged that, in bad faith, Adomati leaked the document on social media, supposedly to soil his boss’ image before the public.

” The purpose of this letter therefore is to humbly request you to support our security with fuel to ease the operations that will start from 1st December, 2021,” Reads the RCC’s letter dated 12, November, 2021.

The line Minister, however, upon learning of the unbecoming act from the official issued a statement describing the act by the Deputy RCC as “improper”.

Babalanda further revealed that if at all her investigations turn out incriminating to the official, action will be taken.

” My office is handling the matter of the letter purportedly written by the RCC, Arua soliciting for support for security operation from the Indian community. It is an improper act, if confirmed to be true, and appropriate recommendations will be made,” the Minister stated in a Tweet on Friday.
