Dominic West's real-life son will star alongside him in The Crown.

The Affair actor takes over from Josh O'Conner as Prince Charles in the fifth season of the Emmy-Award winning show.

According to Variety, Dominic's 13-year-old son Senan West has been cast as Prince William after his audition, submitted via tape by his agent, caught the attention of the show's producers. Senan will make his debut in the finale episodes of the upcoming season.

Other actors stepping into the shoes of the royal family this season are Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret.

Khalid Abdalla has been cast as Dodi Fayed, and Salim Daw will play his father and former Harrods owner Mohamed Al-Fayed.

While details of the penultimate series remain under wraps, it will reportedly follow the royal family in the early 1990s and 2000s. In keeping with the timeline, the demise of the couple's marriage and Diana's tragic death in 1997 will feature in the upcoming seasons.

Season 5 premieres on Netflix in November 2022.
