COIMBATORE: The city cybercrime police have registered a case against 41 YouTube channels under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, for revealing the identity of the Plus Two student, who died by suicide on November 11 after she was allegedly sexually abused by her teacher. Several YouTube channels published the photograph of the 17-year-old victim, conversations between her and the teacher, and WhatsApp screenshots. Some of the channels published interviews of the victim’s parents, a senior police officer said. “We collected URLs of the YouTube channels and registered an FIR against 41 channels under the Act. Chargesheet will be filed before the special court for Pocso cases and those operating the channels will be issued summons.”
