A beer and ice cream run: Asheville man arrested for early morning break-in
An Asheville man broke into the S&W Market and stole more than $900 worth of beer and ice cream — some of which he consumed while still inside the building, police say.
Officers found open containers of alcohol while responding to a break-in at the food hall on Patton Avenue around 9 a.m. Nov. 15, according to an Asheville Police Department press release.
The S&W Market, which opened in June and is home to several restaurants, does not open until 11:30 a.m.

Shortly after receiving the call, officers located and arrested Jesse William Allison, 26, of Asheville. He was charged with breaking and entering and two counts of larceny.
Allison was also served an open warrant for second-degree trespassing stemming from a Sept. 29 incident, according to his arrest report.
According to an APD report, Allison allegedly stole $800 worth of food, $124 of beer and $150 of clothes from The Hop, a handcrafted ice cream shop, and Highland Brewing.
“I’m glad no one was hurt,” Highland Brewing owner Leah Wong Ashburn told the Citizen Times. “While it’s disheartening to experience this as a business, the person who broke in needs help, and I hope this event is a turning point for them.”

The police report also lists $2,000 in structural damage to the building as a result of the break-in.
Allison has since been released from the Buncombe County Detention Center Facility after posting a $3,000 bond Nov. 16, according to Aaron Sarver, spokesperson for the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office, which oversees the jail.
Allison could not be reached for comment.
