LIVE News Updates: Delhi High Court issues Standard Operating Procedure for physical hearings starting Monday

Congress general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, said in Lucknow that the government can see in surveys that they're not faring well, and so are apologising before the polls, reported ANI. She added, "Why is he doing this? Is the nation not understanding that polls are approaching & they might've felt that situation isn't right".

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot said that the farmers' efforts have paid off. Given the circumstances in the country, the PM was forced to withdraw 3 farm laws, said Gehlot, reported ANI. He added that the decision was in view of UP elections, because the PM & BJP are putting in all efforts to win the polls and you never know if they get a shock like West Bengal.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated all farmers who fought relentlessly against the farm laws until they were repealed and "were not fazed by cruelty with which BJP treated" them, reported PTI.

Haryana's Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala said that repeal of the farm laws should be seen as a gift from PM Modi to protesting farmers on Gurupurab.

BKU leader Rakesh Tikait took to Twitter after PM Modi's announcement to say that the farmers protest won't be stopped immediately but only after farm laws repealed in the Parliament. He also asked the government to address other issues apart from the MSP.

After PM Modi announced that the Centre will be repealing the three farm laws, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "With their satyagraha, anndata of the country made the head of arrogance hang low. Congratulations on this victory against injustice..."

ANI reported that India reported 11,106 new cases, 12,789 recoveries & 459 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry. The active caseload now stands at 1,26,620, which accounts for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.37% - lowest since March 2020.

PM Modi announces that 3 farm laws to be repealed. The procedure for repealing these laws will be started by the end of this month. He appeals to the protesting farmers to return to their homes and farms.

PM Modi says after 2014 his government has given utmost importance to farmers. 80% of India's farmers, which are more than 10 crore people, have less than 2 hectares of land.

To lessen the problems of farmers, GoI has given facilities like soil health card, good quality seeds, etc to farmers. Farmers have been given damages of more than Rs. 1 lakh crore in the last 4 years. His government has also transferred more than Rs. 1,62,000 crore to farmers' accounts.

According to ANI, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi paid tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at Shakti Sthal in Delhi, on her birth anniversary today.
