Williams appointed to Reannz board

New Zealand's Minister of Research, Science and Innovation Dr Megan Woods has appointed Dr Warren Williams to the board of Reannz, the country's national research and education network.

"We're delighted to welcome Dr Warren Williams to the board," said Reannz chair Janine Smith.

"Dr Williams has contributed extensively to the sector through his involvement in Vision Mātauranga and Te Mana Raraunga – Māori Data Sovereignty Network. He is also passionate about technology and brings a valuable perspective to a board with strong management, financial and governance experience."

Williams has been involved in ICT and tertiary education for over 25 years.

He is currently the CEO of 20/20 Trust; a board member of Trust Tairāwhiti, Platform Plus, and Community Living; board chair of the Ngaa Uri o Maahanga Trust; deputy chair of the Te Huarahi Tika Trust; director of Digital Taniwha; and a member of the steering committee of Te Mana Raraunga - Māori Data Sovereignty Network.

Williams previously worked as acting CEO of Waikato-Tainui College for Research and Development, and as national IT manager of Te Wananga o Aotearoa.

He holds a bachelor's degree in computing and mathematical sciences, a postgraduate diploma in management studies, an MBA, and a PhD in strategic management, all from the University of Waikato.
