Stock market update: Power stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading lower on Thursday at 10:09AM

Indowind Energy(up 5.00%), Energy Development Company(up 4.70%), NTL(up 4.55%), Orient Green Power Company(up 4.48%), Karma Energy(up 4.34%), Jyoti Structures(up 2.80%), K.P.I. Global Infras(up 1.48%), Suzlon Energy(up 0.72%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.71%) and NTPC(up 0.62%) were among the top gainers.

PTC India(down 2.88%), ABBPP&SLTD(down 2.64%), JSW Energy(down 2.43%), Voltamp Transformers(down 2.22%), Tata Power Company(down 2.08%), NHPC(down 1.96%), NLC India(down 1.50%), Alstom T&D India(down 1.30%), KEC International(down 1.15%) and Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 1.14%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 75.35 points down at 17823.3, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 203.82 points at 59804.51 at around 10:09AM.

Bajaj Finserv(up 0.87%), Bajaj Finance(up 0.83%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.68%), NTPC(up 0.51%), HDFC Bank(up 0.48%), Asian Paints(up 0.43%), State Bank of India(up 0.28%), Hindalco Industries(up 0.27%), ICICI Bank(up 0.25%) and Hindustan Unilever(up 0.2%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Motors(down 3.08%), HCL Technologies(down 2.38%), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.83%), Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 1.78%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.75%), Tech Mahindra(down 1.71%), Larsen & Toubro(down 1.51%), Eicher Motors(down 1.51%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation(down 1.43%) and Tata Consultancy(down 1.3%) were trading in the red.
