Boyzlife are talking about grown-up issues. The conversation ranges from IVF to Peppa Pig, with perhaps a round of golf thrown in.
Both Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy first shot to fame as members of Westlife and Boyzone respectively.
Five years ago, the duo joined forces and dubbed themselves Boyzlife – where they take to the stage and perform a selection of their nostalgic hits combined, such as Flying Without Wings and You Needed Me.
The pair have now released a new single of their own called The One, but admit their partying lifestyle is not what it used to be.
“We don’t tend to party like we used to,” says Duffy (47). “We’re not in our 20s anymore. Years ago we’d come off stage and we’d be hyped and excited and the adrenaline would be flowing. Therefore, it would be very hard to calm down and go straight to bed after a show, so we’d end up partying and having a good time.
“Now, however, we unwind with a glass of wine and possibly a steak. We enjoy getting up early the next morning and playing golf as opposed to going out.”
McFadden (41) welcomed his third daughter, Ruby, in May this year with fiancée Danielle Parkinson. “I go home to a newborn baby and watch Peppa Pig until she falls asleep, so it’s not very rock ‘n’ roll,” he said.
“Obviously I’ve got two older girls, but I didn’t get to enjoy them in their first year because when Molly was born, I was on tour with Westlife, and I pretty much went from the hospital to back out onto the road, and during those days there wasn’t FaceTime.”
Boyzlife’s single The One is out now.
