Hyderabad: When Siddipet district collector Venkatrami Reddy left the civil service and announced that he would soon join the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), Revant Reddy, head of the Telangana Congress, accused him on Wednesday of being a party in land grabs. during his tenure as the joint collector of Medak district.
Revanth addressed the media at Gandhi Bhavan here, and slammed Telangana Prime Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao under the leadership of the state government, claiming that the Raju Pushpa company allegedly belonging to the Venkatrami family also owns the land in the Kokapet ground auction secured.
“In Dubaka Bypolls, Venkatrami has expressed its support for the TRS,” he said.
“Venkatrami Reddy, who is very dear to the CMs of the joint state, has been appointed by KCR as the joint collector of the Medak district. He has the skills to make thousands of crores rupees for him, ”Revanth claimed.
Furthermore, the head of the state congress said that KCR had entrusted the responsibilities of Deccan Infrastructure Limited to Venkatrami Reddy.
“No information is available on to whom Rs 5,000 crores has been transferred and who is the CEO of Deccan Infrastructure Limited,” he said.
Revanth further claimed that the farmers in the joint Medak district were beaten over land acquisition.
“Venkatrami Reddy was convicted and fined for violating high court orders,” he said.
Revanth also said he had written letters to the government demanding action against the Siddipet collector.
“Corrupt officials are given MLCs. Venkatrami Reddy gave no details of his assets anywhere. “His resignation as the collector must not be accepted, and his MLC nomination must be rejected,” Revanth said as he demanded legal action against him.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) nominated Venkatrami on Tuesday in the state legislative council under the MLAs quota.
Venkatrami was transferred from his post as the Siddipet collector during the Dubbak referendum in November 2020 and was reappointed shortly thereafter.
A political controversy erupted in Telangana over the former Siddipet district collector’s remarks against the sale of rice seeds in the district.
In a video that went viral, he was heard saying he would not allow rice seeds to be sold even if seed distributors bring court orders.
Venkatrami also sparked controversy by touching the feet of the prime minister during the inauguration of the new Siddipet collector complex in June this year. When questioned about his actions, he said that KCR is a ‘fatherly figure’ to him.
