Ludhiana: 12-year-old died during religious procession in Pakhowal

LUDHIANA: A 12-years-old boy had died in a road mishap during Nagar-kirtan (a religious procession) being organised in Punjab Mata Nagar, Pakhowal road on Wednesday afternoon.
Prince was sitting in a trolley, which was a part of the procession. The trolley driver suddenly applied brakes following which the boy fell down on the road and suffered head injury and died on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Prince, 12 of Vikas Nagar. His father Ram Babu is a painter.
ASI Dharminder Singh, in-charge police post SBS nagar said that a religious procession was conducted by a Gurudwara in Punjab Mata Nagar. Several devotees were taking part in the process. Some vehicles including some trolleys were also a part of the people that were ferrying the devotees.
Similarly, Prince was sitting on the edge of a trolley. The trolley driver suddenly applied the brakes following which the prince fell down on the road. Prince’s head hit the road and he died on the spot.
ASI added that the police have nabbed the trolley driver who stated that his trolley had been left behind in the procession. Therefore, he increased the speed of the trolley to reach near the other vehicles of the procession. When he reached near the procession, he applied a brake and the boy fell down.
The cop said that on the basis of the statement of Prince’s father the police have registered a case against the trolley driver, identified as Swaran Singh of Kanchan Colony of Jawaddi area, under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of IPC. The driver has been arrested by the police.
