Imphal, November 15 2021: A timer Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found at the gate of one house at Khongman Zone - I under Irilbung Police Station this morning at around 4.24.The timer bomb was fitted inside a lunch box.

Reportedly, the house belongs to one Aribam Sashikumar Sharma, s/o A Chiteshwor.

It is said that the bomb was picked up and detonated at Awa Ching in Keirao, Imphal East by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad of Manipur Police at around 10.10 am.

A Sashikumar Sharma runs a fish wholesale shop called "SK Fish House " and is a joint secretary of Manipur Fish and Egg Traders Association.

Speaking to the media, A Sashikumar stated that he was served a monetary demand by a man through Whatsapp recently.

A case has been registered.

On the other hand, the locals of Khongman Zone-I staged a sit-in in protest denouncing the bomb threat.
