KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress is set to release its election manifesto for the November 25 Agartala Municipal Corporation poll after it stepped up its campaign pitch. A party candidate was on Monday arrested after she demonstrated at the Tripura police headquarters. The candidate was earlier bodily removed from the site when she went to meet senior officers complaining she wasn’t being allowed to campaign despite a Supreme Court order. Trinamool MP Sushmita Dev said: “We have written to the state police and administration seeking permission to hold two meetings, but we have been informed that there will be another meeting by other parties at the same time. Tripura is in a sad state of affairs – the ruling party is so afraid of AITC that they denied permission to hold party meetings.” The party’s Tripura state convenor, Subal Bhowmik, said: “After receiving the Supreme Court’s verdict, 11 complaints have been registered against the party.”
