COIMBATORE:
Alstom, a global company for green mobility solutions, inaugurated its new components
manufacturing facility in Coimbatore with an average investment of 25 million euros.
This is the largest manufacturing facility of Alstom in Asia spread over a 15 acres dedicated to improving industrial efficiency in manufacturing components for various national and international projects. It is expected to create 10,000 direct and indirect
jobs.
This site has undertaken several sustainability measures like – targeting 80% of regular activities to be run on green energy, utilize 100% of natural light during daytime, rainwater harvesting and reusing 100% of the sewage treated water.
“French companies are fully committed to ‘Make in India’ and speeding ahead on the back of strong bilateral relations between the two countries,” said
Emmanuel Lenain, ambassador of France to India. It is heartening to see India’s manufacturing prowess powering global mobility, she said.
Alstom’s industrial presence in Coimbatore has evolved across three sites since 1978. “Our presence in Coimbatore dates to the 1970s and since then we’ve grown multi fold,” said Alain Spohr, managing director – Alstom India. She said the opening of this facility is a testament of our commitment to the government’s flagship ‘Make in India’ & ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
