CS, DCP told to look into demands of VDF/SPOs

Imphal, November 15 2021: Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has directed the respondents in a petition filed by All Manipur VDF Welfare Association president Md Riyaz, to look into the demands of the VDF/SPO personnel.
On Monday, the Commission held a hearing of the petition, which mentions the Chief Secretary (in-charge home department) and Director General of Police as respondents.
The petitioner urged for formulation of an RR similar in nature to the police manual to regularise the service of VDF personnel and ensure payment of salary, equal to that of state police.
The petition also contains demands for payment of 13th month salary and establishment of a separate wing either as a battalion, commission or department.
After examining the petition in detail, MHRC directed the respondents to look into the demands ot the VDF/SPO personnel under Section 17 and 18 read with FR,and SR of Police Act 1861, and under Article 14, 16,21 and 39 (A), (D) and (E) of the Constitution of India.
