Corpus Christi police arrest man in fatal shooting of woman on Holly Road

Corpus Christi police arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with a shooting early Saturday that left one woman dead and another injured.

Esten Chavez was arrested around midnight Sunday on suspicion of murder and four counts of aggravated assault after detectives questioned him about the shooting.

Officers were dispatched about 2 a.m. Saturday to the 6000 block of Holly Road for a shooting. When they arrived, they found a vehicle had crashed after a driver and passenger were shot.

A 20-year-old woman, identified as Roslyn Ramon by the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office, died at the scene. One woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and three other occupants were not injured, according to a police news release.

Chavez was taken to the City Detention Center, the news release states.
