Anytime Todd Snyder teams up with the horology whizzes at Timex it’s worth paying attention, but this iteration—a murdered-out take on the latter's groundbreaking Q style—feels especially fresh. Snyder’s wares tend to skew heavy on the color; over the years, his cheery spin on classic Americana has endeared him to fashion heads and fashion-adjacent average Joes alike. That's not to say black isn't in his wheelhouse. But when the designer leans into the color it feels intentional, a conscious decision to eschew the vivid hues he favors.
So it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the latest Timex to get the Snyder treatment looks so thoughtfully considered. The Q is an OG quartz timepiece that helped popularize many of the details—a rotating bezel, a functional battery hatch, a day-date feature—that would eventually become de rigueur in the watch world. Mercifully, Snyder leaves those elements intact but kits out the whole shebang in a monochromatic stainless steel that'll look downright fantastic peeking out from underneath a crisp white shirtsleeve. You know those all-important finishing touches we're always harping on about? This kind of watch is exactly what we mean. And for less than 200 bones, you'd be hard-pressed to find another wallet-friendly option with an iota of its panache.
Like anything the two work on it probably won’t stick around for long, so head on over to the Todd Snyder site (or, y'know, smash the buy button above) to score one for yourself. [*Checks wrist*] It's officially goth o'clock.
