NEW DELHI: India is now on the lowest rung of risk for Covid for the US, thanks to a rapidly improving pandemic situation and increasing vaccination here.
The US state department said that “indicating a low level of Covid-19 in the country”, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a level 1 (lowest threat level) for India.
“Your risk of contracting Covid-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorised vaccine,” a travel advisory for India issued on Monday said.
Dor Covid situation in India, the CDC website said: “Key Information for travellers to India: Make sure you are fully vaccinated before traveling to India. Travellers should follow recommendations or requirements in India, including wearing a mask and staying six feet apart from others. Fully vaccinated travellers are less likely to get and spread Covid-19.”
“However, international travel poses additional risks, and even fully vaccinated travellers might be at increased risk for getting and possibly spreading some Covid-19 variants. Do not travel internationally until you are fully vaccinated. If you are not fully vaccinated, there are additional recommendations to follow before, during, and after travel,” the CDC website said.
