The South African Maritime Safety Authority (Samsa) has appointed forensic investigators to probe allegations of misconduct, six months after three executives were placed on precautionary suspension.
The investigation and related suspensions follow on from whistleblowing reports received from external and internal stakeholders.
The Samsa board placed chief operations officer Sobantu Tilayi, company secretary Moyahabo Raphadu, and chief human capital officer Lesego Mashishi on precautionary suspension with pay, as of 26 April, amid allegations of misconduct.
The suspensions, the board said, were necessary to ensure that its investigations were free from any potential interference.
