KIMACS observes Thang-Ta Day

Imphal, November 15 2021: Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) in association with Thang-Ta Observation Committee commemorated the Thang-Ta Day at the complex of Government Dance College, Palace Compound here on Monday.
Manipur Technical University vice-chancellor Dr Bhubeneshwar and KIMACS president Ningthoujam Ajitkumar attended the event as chief guest and president respectively while GP Women's College professor Dr K Indrakmnar and AYUSH coordinator Dr Tondang were present as guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Bhubeneshwar said that Thang-Ta has been included in the academic syllabus up to Master level and noted that the prospect for further growth of Thang-Ta under the New Education Policy 2020, which focuses on promotion of indigenous & traditional values as well as improving knowledge.
This is the right opportunity to promote traditional and cultural knowledge, he said.
The VC also mentioned about the recent GI tag certification for Wangkhei Phi and Saphi Lanphi, and underscored the need for extensive research work in theheld of Thang-Ta.
Prizes were distributed to winners of the 2nd Online Leiteng Thang-hai Competition as a part of the observance.
