Seminar on 'Significance of Ministry of BSI' held

Senapati, November 15 2021: A one day seminar on 'Significance of the Ministry of Bible Society of India' was held at Mao Baptist Centre Church, Senapati today.
Speaking on the occasion, Rev Dr N Paphino, president Bible Society of India (BSI), Dimapur Auxiliary stated that the Dimapur Auxiliary covers 4 North Eastern states including Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal and Assam.
Rev Dr Yiepetso Wezah, secretary BSI Dimapur Auxiliary stated that the British and Foreign Bible Society extended its branch to India which was inaugurated on February 21, 1811 AD at Kolkata as BSI.
At present, BSI has 16 Auxiliaries and 1 Associate Auxiliary at Andaman and Nicobar Island with headquarters at Bengaluru.
The BSI Dimapur Auxiliary was reportedly inaugurated on November 6, 1985 at Lotha Baptist Church, Dimapur covering the states of Arunachal, Manipur, Nagaland and Karbi Anglong district of Assam.
Dimapur Auxiliary is stated to have recognised more than 100 languages out of which, BSI has brought out 40 full Bibles and additional New Testament of 14 languages.
There are 14 Old Testament translations and 6 New Testament translations in progress.
Currently, 8 language groups are reportedly carrying out translations with other Bible Societies such as Word for the World, Bible International and Indian Evangelical Mission.
Meanwhile, new executives were appointed for the Senapati branch including Rev Dr N Ch Stevenson Ngata (president), L Kapani Kayina (vice president), Amos Chalamva (secretary) and YK Hingba (treasurer) .
