Child abuse: CBI conducts raids in six TN districts

CHENNAI: Searches were conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation in six locations in Tamil Nadu as a part of the nation-wide raids regarding online child abuse.
The CBI had received information that six men from Tamil Nadu were part of WhatsApp group named 'Only Child Sex Videos'.
Based on this, searches were conducted at six districts -- Salem (Kattumaram Kuttai), Tiruvallur (Tiruvallur), Dindigul (Dokkuveeranpatti), Namakkal (Attanur Samathuvapuram), Tiruvannamalai (Thorapadi) and Coimbatore (Bettathapuram).
The accused had circulated, downloaded, and stored child abuse videos, photos, texts and posts in this group, according to FIR filed by the CBI on November 14.
An official release from the agency on Tuesday confirmed that their residences were raided, and mobile phones were seized. A case has been registered under Section 67-B of the IT Act read with IPC 120-B (criminal conspiracy).
