‘Goa number 1 in education, healthcare’
Mapusa: Stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) indulges only in politics of development and does not discriminate over religion or caste, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that one can compare with other states and see that Goa is number 1 in education, healthcare and other sectors. He further announced that pending payments of various schemes like Griha Aadhar, DSSY and scholarships will be cleared by December 31. Sawant was addressing people at the ‘Sarkar tumchya dari’ programme at St Thomas Higher Secondary School at Aldona wherein people in large numbers participated.
Addressing the gathering, Sawant in presence of Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo, North Goa collector Ajit Roy, ZP members and sarpanch, said that till date there was no fight and discrimination in state over religion or caste adding, “We do not do politics over caste and religion. PM Narendra Modi visited the Vatican City and met Pope which was appreciated globally.”
Sawant said that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the government did not stop extending benefits of any social welfare scheme.
“Electricity charges are low for both residential and commercial premises. Goa is 100 per cent electrified and still if anyone is missed out then they can contact the department. Recently 100 houses were supplied electricity through solar power,” said Sawant.
He further said that all houses in Goa have water connection and the state is open-defecation free.
“Since 2012, development work in Goa has gained momentum in the real sense and various development works actually began from 2014 after PM Modi government came into power and gave Rs 20,000 crore,” added Sawant.
He further said that 70,000 beneficiaries in Goa benefited under Jan Dhan Yojana as during the COVID pandemic Rs 6,000 was deposited in each of these beneficiaries’ accounts.
Hitting out at the opposition for claiming that no work done in Aldona constituency, Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo said that around Rs 100 crore-worth work has been undertaken in Aldona constituency adding if he had not undertaken work then people would not have elected him for second time.
