'Darmiyaan is a very todayish show': Shabir Ahluwalia

By Anil Mishra
Panaji, Nov 14 (UNI) Actor Shabir Ahluwalia has said that Audible Original show 'Darmiyaan' is a very todayish show, as it has very real relationships.

''In today’s time, we take things as they come without really thinking about what kind of goals and dreams we should really have. We live our life as it comes. And this show kind of deals with these people in a time like this, where they have choices that they need to make to lead their life in a particular direction. So, it's about what happens when you're put in a situation that kind of faces you. So like they say 'Life is nothing but the choices you make'. So, it has a very fresh and positive outlook,'' he told UNI in an interview.

When asked what inspired him to be part of the show, the Kumkum Bhagya actor said, ''I have never done an audio show in my life. For me, it was really interesting to be part of a show that was taken well.'

''On the face of it when I read the script, I was like Oh my God, we can do a show out of it. Then as soon as we started recording, I realised the power of an audio show. It takes you to a different place. We didn't know how much goes into making an audio show. So I'm glad that I took it up and I'm glad that I said yes to Audible and Balaji. I think Audible is one of the best platforms for audio shows with some great content. This is Balaji’s foray into audio storytelling. I think it's an immersive experience for audio listeners. They can just imagine what they want to imagine,'' he said.

But was not it challenging?

Shabir said, ''For us, it's a new experience, cause we didn't know how an audio show is made. But we took our approach, where we could enact it, some acting also involved. For example, if there's an argument, the body language would turn accordingly. So for us, it was challenging because it was a new medium and obviously exciting because you know where it starts, you know where it ends, you know what you can do with it. So you don't necessarily need to improvise on this thing, you can do it during the day. There's a lot more clarity in an audio show and it's very fruitful.''

He said radio shows would have a great market in the near future because nowadays, everything is visual, everything is something that one can see, be it his or her school or presentation.

''There are times when we want to sit back, relax, enjoy a story, we don't necessarily need to strain your eyes and die unnecessarily to see another visual. That's where the audio comes to play in. You can listen to audio shows and books while going to school or putting clothes in a washing machine or while you're probably going for a walk, or doing an exercise. So you can consume it at whatever point you are at. I think it is more consumer friendly than any other medium,'' he said.

Darmiyaan is an Audible Original show starring Sriti Jha and Shabir Ahluwalia. It has been created and produced by Balaji Telefilms.
