Hi! I'm trying to recomp my body and im not sure where to start.
My BMI is considered normal, but I am unfortunately skinny fat. I want to get a lean body so I can become physically in shape enough to join my swim team at my school. Currently there really isn't any muscle that I have because I have only weight trained in my cross fit class for roughly 5 months, along with lifting in the gym with no program for nearly a year. While I have went on a cut during corona-virus a year ago from 183 to currently where I am at 153, I still have probably 18% bodyfat, which while is technically healthy its still bothering me a bit. I have accesses to a gym near me but just generally don't know where to start on going from being a skinny fat with no strength to becoming athletic and relatively strong. FYI I am 15 years old, 5'7 and weigh 153 pounds. Any tips and workout routines would help immensely as I have no idea where to start and don't have money for a program as I cannot work yet. :') I deeply appreciate any help as I am completely lost in the world of becoming fit & I apologize if this post is horribly formatted as I am not really sure how to ask for help with something like this.
You aren't going to be judged on what you look like to join the swimming team. They will ask about your lap times... Swimmers usually look pretty good without doing any weights after some pretty serious sustained training.
And dieting at 15 is a bad idea - don't do that again. Just stick to mostly whole foods like meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit, wholegrains etc. Eating like a bird will not allow your body to develop muscle.
If it were me, I would look for a swimming training plan online. I would only do weights as directed by a team coach.
I appreciate the quick reply and the correction on my diet, but I wont start swimming until next year. Is there any idea of what sort of weightlifting I should pick up before I start swimming? I have honestly no real idea of where to look as almost everywhere I seem to look online it is behind a paywall or some weird diet. :/
I unfortunately cannot and I appreciate you directing me towards the Fierce 5 program. When I wake up tomorrow I will try it out and will inform you how it goes.
