Man killed in Palm Desert late Thursday; sheriff's department investigating
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department has launched an investigation into a homicide that occurred Thursday night in a neighborhood near the Palm Desert Country Club.
Deputies with the department's Palm Desert station responded at 10:21 p.m. Thursday to the 43000 block of Tennessee Avenue, where several gunshots had been reported.
Upon the deputies' arrival to the scene, they found a dead man lying on the street "suffering from trauma to his body consistent with a homicide," according to a news release from the sheriff's department. The department offered no details on the manner of death.
After the scene was secured, the department's Central Homicide Unit responded and took over the investigation. The deceased man's identity was being withheld until next of kin were notified.
