Kolkata, Nov 13 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday slammed TMC supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for nominating former Goa chief minister Luizinho Faleiro as the party candidate for Rajya Sabha from Bengal.
Earlier in the day the All India Trinamool Congress announced the nomination of former Goa chief minister Luizinho Faleiro as the party candidate for Rajya Sabha from West Bengal.
The All India Trinamool Congress announced that " We are extremely pleased to nominate @luizinhofaleiro to the Upper House of the Parliament. We are confident that his efforts towards serving the nation shall be appreciated widely by our people!".
"Banglar Meye" ( chief minister Mamata Banerjee) is squandering the Rajya Sabha seats from
WB on "Bahiragotos" ( outsiders), BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari wrote on his twitter post.
" After Sushmita Dev (the) AITC now its Luizinho Faleiro. Shouldn't Bengalis react to this
deprivation? Why should Bengal pay if these people have no chance of getting elected on TMC
tickets in Assam & Goa?"
Mr Adhikari asked.
Seventy-year-old Faleiro, who joined the TMC some months before, is the national vice-president
of the party.
Recently TMC leader Aprita Ghosh quit the Rajya Sabha seat, in which the election to be held on November 29.
November 16 is the last date for submitting the nomination papers.
Sources said, Mr Faleiro, who is in the city, is expected to file his nomination papers early next
week
